Employment Claims - Fair employment is important to all of us. In today’s uncertain economy, too many employees forget, or never learn, that they have legal rights, and that they are entitled to protect those rights.

At Gottlieb and Goren, we know how to protect your rights as an employee. Our employee-focused employment law practice has brought us national recognition. We have successfully represented clients in cases before administrative agencies, and state and federal courts, including the Michigan Supreme Court, the 6 th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. We are not afraid to take on large employers; some of the employers we have made claims against include Unisys, Kelsey Hayes, Ford, Chrysler, GM, Volkswagon, Unum, DSW, Eaton Corp, AAA, Cigna, SBC (Ameritech), CenTra, DOC, Bank One, Comerica, ITT, Valeo, Old Kent, Right Associates, St. John's Hospital and several government agencies.

We represent employees with many different types of legal claims. Our clients include employees who have been wrongfully discharged from their employment or dismissed from jobs without good cause.  We also represent employees who have not received bonuses, severance pay, or other contingent compensation.  Other claims include employees suffering retaliation for being "whistleblowers," reporting violations of the law or public policy, or exercising rights for medical leave and unpaid compensation.  Many claims have involved employees denied leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and denial of disability benefits.

Our employment practice includes more than terminations and retaliations. Pensions and other fringe benefits, such as medical insurance, are important to all employees. This is a complex body of law. We have extensive experience in representing clients who have claims under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), for pensions, medical insurance, and other employer-provided benefits. Our attorneys have been counsel in important cases establishing employees’ and retirees’ rights to insurance and pensions.

At Gottlieb and Goren, we have a history of fighting aggressively for the rights of employees. Contact us to learn how we can help you.

Business Matters - The business of being a business lawyer is to understand that the successful business person is confronted with the necessity of threatening the status quo.  The business lawyer must also appreciate that the success of a business is measured by what is left after all of the bills are paid.

Our representation includes vigorous litigation of clients' claims or defenses in an effective and cost efficient manner.  We look for creative solutions to legal problems.  We believe in working with our clients, and making them a part of a team working on their behalf.  Our attorneys maintain close communications with the clients and consult with them on all important decisions.

Gottlieb and Goren also has the experience and interest to be a contributing member of management's outside cadre of consultants.  We are prepared to assist whether the business has not yet begun, is still in the entrepreneurial stage, has matured to be a vibrant or struggling enterprise, or requires the creation and implementation of an exit strategy for its principals.
